The University of Nairobi (UoN) held its annual Students Recognition Awards ceremony on Friday, May 3rd, 2024, at Taifa Hall. This prestigious event serves to acknowledge and reward outstanding students who have consistently demonstrated exceptional performance in a multitude of fields.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of the University Senate, administration officials, Deans of Faculties, the Student Council, and other esteemed guests. A total of 610 students were celebrated for their remarkable achievements in academics, research, corporate social responsibility, leadership, volunteerism, sports, and extracurricular activities.

In her opening remarks, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Leonard Kerubo, emphasized the University's unwavering commitment to nurturing and producing exceptional graduates. "We stand here today not only as a center of excellence and a globally competitive university transforming society, but also as an institution dedicated to equipping our students with the unique skillsets they need to make a positive impact on the world," she declared. Professor Kerubo further underscored the University's continued support for student initiatives that empower graduates to excel in the dynamic workplace.

Building upon this theme, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Stephen Kiama, took the opportunity to commend the caliber of UoN's student body. "The University of Nairobi has, and continues to produce, some of the finest students in the nation," he remarked with pride.

Following the main ceremony, the recognized students participated in one-on-one sessions with sponsors and donors. These sessions provided motivation, fostered connections, and allowed for potential future support.A total of 107 strategic partners, including corporations and individual well-wishers, participated in recognizing the outstanding students financially. Some notable names included Crown Berger, Unilever, Deloitte, PLO Lumumba Foundation, Veteran Education Foundation, Professor Kiama Gitahi and Professor Jane F Mariara
